I did not arrive at the ministry through a single moment of calling. I arrived through a lifetime of them.

Through the administrative offices and healthcare corridors where I spent more than thirty years keeping the system running for those who needed it most — making sure that behind every doctor, every nurse, every patient, there was someone ensuring that care could actually happen. I learned early that healing is a team effort, and that the people working behind the scenes carry just as much heart as those on the front lines.

Through the fields and courts where I coached young men to believe in themselves, season after season, decade after decade. Through the town halls and community meetings where I fought — sometimes quietly, sometimes loudly — for the people who needed someone in their corner. Through the uniform I wore proudly as a United States Army Veteran, learning that honor is not a word, it is a daily choice.

And most of all, through thirty-six years of marriage to a woman I loved with everything I had. I am a widower now. And that, perhaps more than anything else in my long and full life, is what makes me the right person to stand beside you on the days that matter most. I know what it means to make a vow and mean it with every cell in your body. I know what it means to baptize hope into a new life. And I know — deeply, personally, in my bones — what it means to say goodbye to someone the whole world felt smaller without.

I am a proud father of four sons and a grandfather of four grandchildren — four times over I have watched a new life enter this world and felt that breathless, sacred wonder that only a grandparent knows.

When you invite me to your ceremony, you are not hiring a stranger in a robe. You are welcoming someone who has truly lived — who has loved and lost and shown up anyway, every single time. It would be my greatest honor to show up for you.
